“…At first glance the [KASK Vertigo] looks similar to a lot of others in this price range. Loads of air vents, pretty lightweight, lots of colors … but where it truly crushes the competition is in the details. The chin strap is wrapped in leather, the ear straps have reflective ribbing, the brace at the back has gel inserts to cushion your head. The decals are clean and not covering every inch of the helmet like so many other companies. I dig the Kask logo too.”

“Would I buy a $300 helmet? Yep. Do I need that helmet for the sporadic type of riding I do? Maybe. I suggest when you walk into the bike shop looking for a new helmet, you’re actually deciding on what’s important to you besides safety. They are all safe and tested. You have to love a company that names a color “Mojito” (above left). Yum. I really like my Vertigo. Wait, why is the room spinning? It’s the Mojito, nevermind.
I can’t wait to get more miles in this helmet, and I’m positive you’ll start seeing them rolling down your local roads and rides.”
Vanderkitten-Focus Pro Women’s Cycling Team took advantage this past weekend of the sunny Californian winter with a special pre-season bike and KASK Helmets pre-fitting session in Mountain View, CA.
After a gruelling morning training ride taking in climbing roads featured in recent editions of the Amgen Tour of California, our US based VK athletes met with Vanderkitten-Focus staff and management to dial in their equipment for the impending season.
Critical to the session was the introduction of riders to the KASK 2012 range of helmets. Riders were able to try on various iterations of the Vertigo, Mojito, K-10 and K-31 Chrono helmets.
Vanderkitten is well known as a premium athletic brand, hence the alignment with KASK, but the importance of optimum safety whilst training is also something that the VK riders preach and practice. Whenever our riders are travelling across the USA to an International race, we make sure we align with schools and emergency services in host cities, so we can spread the word about bike safety. The fact that in 2012 we now utilize the most cutting edge designs in safety is paramount to the Vanderkitten message, and this weekend reinforced how lucky we are to be riding the best helmets in the world!
Now our athletes have the perfect fit for comfortable, stylish riding, our 2012 Vanderkitten-Focus jersey design will be matched precisely to the KASK in house template. This means our upstart Pro Women’s team will have access to the same premium technology and design featured in the KASK Helmets of UCI ProTour studs Team SKY. Check out the 2012 Vanderkitten-Focus KASK Mojito helmets online in the near future!

A tough category with a number of contenders. Let’s take a look. OmegaPharma-Lotto ended the year as the UCI’s number one ranked team, largely due to the achievements of Gilbert. Garmin-Cervelo had a superb Tour de France and punched well above their weight. A largely disappointing Classics campaign was salvaged by Johan Van Summeren who took a solo win at Paris-Roubaix. HTC-Highroad continued their trend of winning races by the bucket-load – a whopping 56 in all! In Mark Cavendish and Tony Martin the disbanding squad came away from the World Championships in September with both rainbow jerseys – a bitter sweet exit from the sport. Team Sky made a sound case after a vastly improved second season in the pro peloton. The team looked a more cohesive unit and the wins began to flow in big races. Overall victory at the Criterium du Dauphine courtesy of Bradley Wiggins, not to mention second and third at the Vuelta (Wiggins and Froome) saw the team step up to the plate in stage races. Comfortable winners of the year-end CQ Rankings, it is hard to look past the British squad for their 2011 achievements.
